Neighbourhood and Global Relations

In 2025, the European Union spent €16.3bn on relations with neighbouring countries and the rest of the world. Of this, €13.6bn went to diplomatic relations and programmes in countries outside the EU. €2.7bn went to pre-accession programmes for candidate countries seeking to become new members.
