EU Budget (Bilancio UE)

Italy’s contribution to the European Union budget in 2025 amounts to approximately €22.5 billion, equal to around 2.5% of total public expenditure. This amount is allocated to financing the EU budget and is managed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Specifically, the 2025 Budget Law provides for approximately €22.5 billion under Programme 3.1 of the MEF budget. These resources are primarily intended to ensure coverage of the financial obligations arising from Italy’s participation in the European Union. Operationally, the funds transferred are managed by the European Union together with the contributions of other Member States and are used to finance a wide range of policies, including agricultural, security, environmental policies, and many other initiatives.

Overall, based on the 2025–2027 budget projections of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, a significant increase in resources allocated to this sector is expected in the coming years.
